Terms of Service
These terms govern your use of renewalrate.ca. By using the site, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
1. Informational only, not advice
RenewalRate.ca is a content publication. Everything on the site, including articles, calculator outputs, rate commentary, and comparisons, is provided for general information and education. It is not, and must not be interpreted as, mortgage advice, financial advice, investment advice, tax advice, insurance advice, or legal advice. We are not a mortgage brokerage, we are not licensed under the Mortgage Brokerages, Lenders and Administrators Act, 2006 (Ontario) or any equivalent provincial legislation, and the editor is not a licensed mortgage broker, agent, or insurance agent.
Before making any decision about a mortgage, renewal, refinance, or related financial product, you should consult a professional who is licensed in your province and who can review your specific circumstances.
2. Your decisions are your own
You are solely responsible for the financial decisions you make. Reading something on RenewalRate.ca, clicking a link to a partner, or using one of our calculators does not shift that responsibility to us. We do not know your full financial picture, your credit standing, your employment situation, or your objectives, and we cannot be held responsible for the outcome of decisions you make based on our content.
3. Calculators are illustrative
Our calculators produce estimates based on the inputs you provide and standard Canadian mortgage amortisation mathematics. They are illustrative, not binding. They are not quotes, pre-approvals, or offers of credit. Actual rates, payments, and terms available to you depend on the lender, your qualifications, market conditions at the time of application, and other factors outside our control. We make no representation that the output of any calculator is accurate for your specific situation.
4. Rate information
When we publish rate information, we publish it to the best of our knowledge at the time of writing or the last review date shown on the article. Rates change constantly. We cannot guarantee that a rate referenced on our site is currently available, and we do not guarantee that you will qualify for it.
5. Affiliate links
Some links on RenewalRate.ca are affiliate links. If you click one and eventually fund a mortgage with the partner, we receive a commission from the partner at no cost to you. Full details are in our Affiliate Disclosure. The existence of an affiliate relationship does not change our editorial positions, and it does not change what you pay.
6. Intellectual property
All original content on RenewalRate.ca, including articles, calculators, design, graphics, and code, is owned by O.MS.H Media Inc. or licensed to it, and is protected by Canadian and international copyright law. You may:
- Read and share links to our content on social media or in personal communications
- Quote brief excerpts with attribution and a link back to the source
- Print pages for your personal, non-commercial reference
You may not:
- Republish full articles or substantial portions on another website, newsletter, or commercial publication without written permission
- Use our content to train an AI model without written permission
- Remove copyright notices, disclosures, or attributions from any content you are permitted to use
- Represent our content as your own
Requests for republication or licensing: [email protected].
7. Prohibited uses
You agree not to:
- Scrape, harvest, or systematically download content from the site without our written permission (including automated agents, crawlers, or AI training pipelines)
- Attempt to interfere with the site's operation, security, or availability
- Use the site or its calculators in a way that violates Canadian law or the laws of your jurisdiction
- Impersonate RenewalRate.ca, O.MS.H Media Inc., or any of our partners
- Submit content or communications that are unlawful, defamatory, harassing, or infringing
8. Third-party sites and partners
RenewalRate.ca links to third-party websites, including affiliate partner brokerages and primary data sources. We are not responsible for the content, accuracy, privacy practices, or terms of those sites. When you click through to a partner or external site, you leave our jurisdiction and those sites' own terms apply.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable Ontario law, O.MS.H Media Inc., its officers, directors, employees, contractors, and contributors are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages arising from your use of renewalrate.ca, the use or inability to use the site, reliance on any content, the output of any calculator, or dealings with any third party you discovered through the site. This includes, without limitation, loss of profits, loss of savings, loss of data, and financial loss resulting from mortgage, renewal, or refinance decisions.
Nothing in this section limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable Canadian law, including under Ontario's Consumer Protection Act, 2002 where it applies to services we provide. If any portion of this limitation is held unenforceable, the remainder continues in full effect, and our total liability in any event is limited to the amount you paid us for access to the site, which, if you are a regular reader, is zero dollars.
10. No warranties
The site is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We do our best to keep content accurate and up to date, but we make no warranties, express or implied, about completeness, accuracy, timeliness, fitness for a particular purpose, or uninterrupted availability.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "last updated" date at the bottom of this page and, where the change significantly affects your rights, post a notice on the site for a reasonable period before the change takes effect. Continued use of the site after the change constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
12. Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable in Ontario. Any dispute arising out of or related to these terms or your use of the site will be resolved in the courts of Ontario, and you consent to the jurisdiction of those courts, unless mandatory consumer-protection law in your province of residence gives you the right to sue in local courts.
13. Severability
If any provision of these terms is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full force.
